Burbank Man Surrenders After Barricading Self in House: Cops

BURBANK, IL -- Police averted a barricaded subject involved in domestic violence silence Wednesday evening in Burbank.

Officers were dispatched to the 7800 block of South Mobile Avenue around 8:44 p.m. on a domestic violence call. When officers arrived they met the woman outside her home, who said that she and her husband were involved in a physical altercation.

The woman told police she fled her house when her husband threatened her with a firearm. Officers took the woman to safety to get more information about the situation and her husband, police said.

Police tried to get the husband to leave the residence, but he reportedly refused to cooperate. After a half hour of negotiations, officers were able to convince the husband to leave the house. The husband allegedly put up some resistance, who refused to comply with officers’ commands.

The husband was taken into police custody. He was brought to an area hospital for an injury he suffered while being placed under arrest, and for his "extreme state of intoxication," police said.

According to Burbank police, their officers searched the residence and found several air rifles, a handgun, several rifles and a pellet gun believe to be used during the domestic altercation. Charges are pending against the husband and expected upon his release from the hospital.

Police said the wife refused medical attention for minor non-life threatening injuries from the incident. No other injuries were reported and no other persons were directly involved. Another adult family member was in the home but was unaware of what was transpiring.
