Burbank Resident Hit By Stray Bullet Inside Home
Several residents reported hearing 10 to 15 gunshots, police said.
BURBANK, IL — A Burbank resident was hit by a stray bullet inside their home after several callers to 911 reported multiple shots fired Saturday evening.
Around 10:15 p.m. May 23, Burbank police responded to a call of shots fired in the area of 79th Street and Meade Avenue. The 911 dispatch center received multiple calls of 10 to 15 gunshots coming from the area of 79th Street between McVicker and Meade Avenues. When officers arrived in the area, they found a resident who had been shot by a stray bullet in a residence in the 8000 block of McVicker Avenue.
The wounded resident was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center and was later released in good condition. Police do not know what motivated the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.

Early in the morning of May 7, bullets from a drive-by near 87th Street and Cicero Avenue penetrated the co-op apartment buildings on the Hometown side of 87th Street, a Homewood official said. Neighbors who live in the co-ops, told Patch it was the third time in six months that the buildings were struck by gunfire. A bullet entered through the wall of a bedroom of an elderly resident as she was sleeping.
