Candy Factory Worker Accused of Selling Heroin From Car in Oak Lawn

Oak Lawn cops stopped a buyer who admitted to purchasing heroin from man in his car, prosecutor said.

OAK LAWN, IL -- A 56-year-old candy company worker from Chicago was arrested for allegedly selling heroin out of his car in Oak Lawn.

Police had two narcotic users under surveillance on Oct. 20 when they saw the buyer enter a vehicle near 87th Street and Merrimac Avenue. The buyer got of the of the vehicle a short time later and was stopped by police, the prosecutor said.

According to the charges, the buyer told police she had purchased heroin from a man later identified as Jonathan Allen. Officers took Allen into custody, who was found to have several bags of what field tested positive for heroin, crack cocaine and assorted alprazolam.

Oak Lawn police charged Allen with felony manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance. The prosecutor said Allen has a pending case for possession of cocaine and heroin from September.

Bail was set at $100,000. Cook County Judge Peter Felice also requested a source of funds should Allen post bond.

Allen’s next hearing is Nov. 8 in Bridgeview.
