Car Wash Crook Clobbers Customer, Steals $1,000: Prosecutor

Alleged crook asked customer for cigarette at Bridgeview car wash, then punched him three times, prosecutor said.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL -- A Hoffman Estates man punched another customer in the face and robbed him at a Bridgeview car wash on Dec. 22, prosecutors said.

Jonathan Manos, 27, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a robbery charge. He also has pending case for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance out of Rolling Meadows, court records indicated.

According to the charges, Manos drove up next to the customer’s car at the Water Works Car Wash, 7783 S. Harlem Ave., Bridgeview. Manos asked the customer if he had a cigarette and punched him in the face.

When the man asked Manos why he hit him, the prosecutor said Manos punched him two more times. Manos allegedly grabbed $1,000 from the man and fled.. The customer chased Manos until he was able to get Manos’s license plate number.

The prosecutor said the customer identified Manos from a photo array. Manos also has misdemeanor arrests for battery in 2014, and a 2007 mob action charge.

The assistant public defender told the judge that Manos is working two jobs as a plumber’s apprentice and loading dock worker.

“I find him to be a danger,” Judge Felice said.

Bail was set at $250,000. Manos’s next court hearing is Jan. 24 in Bridgeview.
