CCHS RoboKnights Shine at State Robotics Competition

Advance to Playoffs in Impressive Showing

The RoboKnights, a competitive robotics team from Chicago Christian High School, made their mark at the state competition held on March 1st in Elgin. As a third-year team, their performance not only highlighted their dedication and skill but also set the stage for even greater achievements in the future.

The event kicked off with excitement as the RoboKnights, led by Coach Ryan Verver, prepared for the challenge ahead. “The RoboKnights had a great experience at state! Friday night, we had good interviews with the judges, set up our pits, and got our robot inspected,” Verver shared. The team’s meticulous preparation paid off as they faced off in five thrilling matches on Saturday. Though they lost two matches, the margin was narrow, with the team coming up just a few points short. Their strong performance earned them a spot in the playoffs as the low seed, a testament to their perseverance and teamwork.

Despite their best efforts in the playoffs, the RoboKnights faced tough competition and were ultimately unable to beat the number 1 seed. Nevertheless, Coach Verver was proud of the team's achievements. “Making it to state was a great accomplishment for a third-year team, but then making it into the playoffs as well was amazing! With most of the team being juniors, I am excited to see what the RoboKnights will do next year!”
