Chicago Men Drop Fake Twenties At Five Below: Prosecutor

"Going into a $5 store with counterfeit money, you can probably buy fake twenties there," judge said.

COUNTRYSIDE, IL -- Two Chicago men were arrested after they tried to pass counterfeit money at a Countryside Plaza store, prosecutors sad. Devontae Dansberry, 24, and Daquaan Wallace, 22, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on felony forgery charges. Wallace is on parole for manufacture and delivery of heroin and possession of a controlled substance.

Countryside police responded to call of multiple people passing fake money at Five Below in Countryside Plaza. When officers responded, three individuals who matched the alleged money-passers’ descriptions fled. The prosecutor said Dansberry was dropping money until officers caught up to him. Police found two counterfeit twenties in his pocket. In addition to the new charge, Dansberry also has pending warrant out of Skokie for forgery.
