Chicago Ridge, Oak Lawn and Bridgeview Accepting Firefighter/Paramedic Applications

The communities of Chicago Ridge, Oak Lawn and Bridgeview are accepting applications for full-time firefighters and paramedics.

Chicago Ridge

Applications are for firefighter/paramedic are available at the Office of Village Clerk, 10455 S. Ridgeland Ave., Chicago Ridge. Interested candidates can pick up applications between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday. Completed applications must be returned no later than 5 p.m. June 1, 2016. A $25 non-refundable processing fee must be paid when picking up applications.

Testing will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016.

The starting salary for a Chicago Ridge firefighter/paramedic is $47,754. Benefits include hospitalization, dental, vision, life insurance, uniform allowance, vacation, sick days and fire pension plan.

Applicants must pass a written, oral, physical and psychological examination, and a polygraph test.

Oak Lawn

The Oak Lawn Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. A non-refundable fee of $25 is required when picking up applications. Completed applications need to be returned to the Fire and Police Commissioners office at the Municipal Center no later than 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

Applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 35. Firefighter candidates must successfully complete a written examination and an oral interview to be placed on the eligibility list.

The starting salary for a first-year Oak Lawn firefighter/paramedic is $65,412 with increases to $74,700 after one year of employment, and $89,868 after three years. Benefits are included.

Applicants will be notified by email of the date, time and location of all exams. Prior appointment as an Oak Lawn firefighter/paramedic, eligible candidates must pass a pre-employment background check, medical and psychological exam.

Bridgeview

The Bridgeview Fire Department. The starting salary for entry-level firefighters/paramedics is $46,894, including benefits.

A $45 non-refundable fee is required at the time of application. Applications MUST be submitted online by Friday, June 3, 2016 at 4 PM (CST). Faxed, e-mailed, mailed or dropped off applications will NOT be accepted. Applications submitted after the deadline will NOT be accepted. Only one application per person, per testing cycle will be accepted.

The mandatory orientation and written exam testing dates are to be determined. Applicants will provided additional information regarding these dates at a later time.
