Chicago Ridge Police Taking Applications For PO Eligibility List

CHICAGO RIDGE, IL—The Chicago Ridge Police Department is now taking applications for the police officer eligibility list. Interested applicants have until Aug. 8 to complete and submit an application. The written test is scheduled for Aug. 17.

Applications may be picked up at Chicago Ridge Village Hall in the clerk’s office at 10455 S. Ridegland Ave. from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The completed applications must by 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8. There is a $25 non-refundable processing fee which must be paid at the time of obtaining an application.

The starting salary for a Chicago Ridge police officer is $51,311.40. Benefits include uniform allowance, hospitalization, dental, optical, pension, vacation, personal and sick days.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and between the ages of 21 and 34 years old. Other requirements include a valid driver’s license, as well as an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in law enforcement/criminal justice in accordance with qualifications in the Rules and Regulations of the Chicago Ridge Police and Fire Commission.

Interested applications must pass written, oral and psychological examinations, as well as a polygraph test. The written exam will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at a venue to be named. Currently employed, full-time Illinois State Certified Police Officers working for the past 12 months are also encouraged to test under Illinois Statute (65 ILCS 5/0 – 2.1-8-5/10-2.1-9).
