Chimera's Comics to Give Away 'Star Wars' Tickets

“The Force” is strong at Chimera’s Comics, which has bought out an entire theater to watch the biggest movie of the year — and they want you to join.

“We’ve bought out an entire screening of ‘Star Wars’ at our favorite theater, Hollywood Blvd., and we want to give the tickets away,” said Carmelo Chimera, co-owner of Chimera’s Comics.

“Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens” releases Dec. 18, but fans can see the show Thursday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. with Chimera’s Comics for free.

“We love to thank our loyal customers by giving back to them with events like this,” Chimera said. “So we’re giving the tickets away in a contest.”

“Anyone who shops with us between Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and the subsequent Sunday will be entered to win a pair of tickets,” said co-owner Steven Brown. “We’re all going to go see this movie anyway - so we wanted as many of our customers and friends to be there as possible.”

This year, Small Business Saturday also happens to fall on the first annual Local Comic Shop Day, an event where comic retailers will have special sales and incentives to thank supporters.

“Steven and I felt really strongly that we wanted to give these tickets away for free, because it’s a rare chance to thank the community for always supporting our store and our dreams,” Chimera said.

Chimera and Brown recently felt the love of their community when they successfully crowd-funded the publication of their first original graphic novel, “Magnificent.”

“We saw how much the community believes in us with the success of our Kickstarter,” Brown said. “We were 133 percent funded, and it was an inspiring and humbling reminder of how many people believe in us.”

Customers who shop at any Chimera’s Comics location in La Grange, Oak Lawn or Woodridge will be entered to win a pair of tickets to the opening night screening of the film. Winners will be announced shortly after. Chimera’s is located at:
