Chiropractic Physician Provides Holistic Approach to Multiple Ailments

BRIDGEVIEW – Dr. Samar Shehaiber, proprietor of Integrative Health and Wellness Center, 8550 S. Harlem Ave., believes a holistic approach to treating health and medical issues is the proper course of treatment for her patients.
A chiropractic physician, Shehaiber is an established and highly regarded medical practitioner who practiced as a respiratory therapist at Advocate Christ Medical Center and, since 2009, as a Chiropractic physician. She is an adept health partner who gets to the core of and effectively addresses her patients’ issues, helping them overcome major health challenges through non-invasive, holistic, natural therapies.
Dr. Shehaiber opened Integrative Health and Wellness in August and believes the center will provide solutions for patients who have not found success through other types of treatment.
As a medical practitioner Dr. Shehaiber’s primary concentration is Women’s Health and Pediatrics. Conditions she treats include infertility, hormonal imbalances, thyroid diseases, weight problems and more. Additionally she treats a wide range of health challenges including fertility and pregnancy health issues, breastfeeding challenges, hormonal imbalances, stress-related problems, endocrine disorders, pediatric issues, ear infections, bed wetting, musculoskeletal pains and weight and digestive issues.
Dr. Shehaiber provides personalized treatment plans for each patient based on issues, complaints, referral requirements and prognosis. The holistic approach examines the issues as a culmination of three factors: emotional stress, structural problems and chemical imbalances. Dedicated to the holistic approach to recovery, she emphasizes the importance of proper nutrition and a positive attitude.
“I have always relied on postgraduate training and seminars to keep me updated on current health issues and it has allowed me to further aid my patients find better solutions through well researched, peer reviewed data,” Dr. Shehaiber said.
Her approach to treatment combines Eastern (acupuncture and Chinese medicine) and Western medical practices (such as blood work, nutrition and manual therapy) to treat patients in a personalized, lasting way. As a chiropractor and health care professional Dr. Shehaiber fills the gap between primary-care physicians and online health information that my not be accurate or appropriate for the individual patient. She spends considerable time with each patient, between 30 minutes and one hour per appointment, to listen to their concerns and provide treatment. This time helps establish a relationship, and meaningful dialogue and bond, to ensure patients’ needs and concerns are effectively and thoroughly addressed.

Dr. Shehaiber obtained her Masters in Jurisprudence of Health Law from the Loyola University Law School in Chicago. She has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Information Management from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology from the National University of Health Sciences. She is board certified and licensed in Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Muscle Testing, Webster Technique and Kinesio Taping. In Illinois she is a registered and licensed Respiratory Therapist, an MUA trained specialist and a Matheson Trained FCE Evaluator. She is receiving post graduate training in Family Practice, Pediatric Care and to become a birth doula to provide support for women going through pregnancy, labor, breastfeeding and post-partum depression.
