CleanEnergy, in addition to other solar energy companies or companies that claim to save you money on electricity have been the bane of existence for many of us. They have called us constantly. You can't go shopping at Menards without them accosting you, and if that's not bad enough, they come knocking constantly on our doors. We tell them constantly that we are not interested, but they just don't leave us alone. As for me, I have put up a note on my mailbox that says no solicitors allowed and that if we don't have it, we don't want it, but the representatives from these companies will ring the doorbell anyway, and they don't like taking no for an answer. Today, a representative from CleanEnergy came for the second time this year to talk to us. That's right. It hasn't even been 3 months into the year, and they have come twice yet again. We tell them that we are not interested, but instead of being professional about it, this particular agent decided to commit a misdemeanor. He ripped the note from our mailbox and tore it up. He does not live here, nor does he own our home, so for him to do this was not only inappropriate, but according to the law, it is a destruction of property. Either way, it will not make us use their product anymore than before.
It is very unfortunate when we cannot be comfortable in our own homes without these solicitors constantly knocking on our doors and ringing on our doorbells even when we tell them not to. Yes, there is a certain thing as a free market, but does that really extend to those with uncouth marketing measures such as constantly knocking on the doors of people when we have already told them no? Well, I, for one, have run out of patience.
It is time for the governments of our towns and cities to root out these companies and and keep them out of our neighborhoods--by police escort, if necessary. As for the representatives of CleanEnergy or any energy company or solicitor, it is time that they learn a phrase that became popular in the 70s: no means no! if they really care about about good business and being respectable companies, they will stop harassing people who have already said they are not interested. Even if their companies provided cleaner energy or more efficient energy at lower prices, which I doubt, if a customer decides that they want to spend a fortune on electricity, then that is their red, white and blue American right!
