OAK LAWN, IL — The newly merged UCC congregations of Salem and Pilgrim Faith – now New Hope United Church of Christ — will hold a candlelight prayer vigil Sunday, Feb. 15. Community members will gather at 6:30 p.m. at New Hope (formerly Salem), 9717 S. Kostner Ave., Oak Lawn. A short justice walk around the neighborhood will immediately follow (weather permitting).

The invitation is extended to all area residents to pray for those who have been killed, traumatized and kidnapped by ICE amd Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis.

Members of the merged New Hope UCC have been worshipping together since last month. The church has started a non-partisan activism group – Peaceful Synergy – to work toward resolving issues in the community and country. Members meet to discuss issues like health care and immigration. All political views are welcome, although the group is progressve leaning.
