Cooper's Hawk at Stony Creek Promenade Aims for Early Spring Opening
The Oak Lawn Cooper's Hawk will have a modern contemporary design influenced by the architecture of Napa and Sonoma in California.

The early days of spring in Oak Lawn may bring the bloom of Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant in the Stony Creek Promenade development at 111th Street and Cicero Avenue.
Most of the underground plumbing, foundation and steel work has been set, thanks to a relatively mild winter season so far, according to Ron Dee, senior vice president of development at Cooper’s Hawk.
He said they expect to have the slab poured Jan. 6 and 7, and with continued warm and dry winter weather, the opening could follow soon after in March or April.

Dee couldn’t yet confirm a specific opening date, but he said they want to open the restaurant as early in the spring of 2015 as possible.
The Oak Lawn Cooper’s Hawk will have a modern contemporary design influenced by the architecture of Napa and Sonoma in California. Dee said it will be totally different from the other six Cooper’s Hawk locations in Chicagoland.

The wine tasting bar, which is usually straight or L-shaped, will curve in a U-shape to encourage social and visual interaction at wine tastings.
Dee said when the restaurant opens, it will employ four full time managers and 150 employees.
Dee said he’s in touch about once a week with Larry Deetjen, village manager, Steve Radice with the Oak Lawn Office of Economic Development and Jack Gallagher, community development director, to keep them in touch with the status of the project.
“They have been proactive in reaching out to me, asking if I need any assistance or help getting this restaurant constructed as quickly as possible,” Dee said.
Founded by south suburban native Tim McEnery, Cooper’s Hawk has earned over 200 wine awards and was named “Breakout Brand 2013” and “Hot Concept 2010” Winner by Nation’s Restaurant News. Most recently, Cooper’s Hawk was selected as MenuMasters Winner in the category of “Menu Trendsetter” and was ranked the eighth fastest-growing Chicago company by Crain’s Chicago Business for 2013.
