Cop Puncher Tries To Swipe Squad Car: Prosecutor

"This man's actions are a danger to the community and to the police officers trying to protect us," judge says.

BRIDGEVEW, IL -- A “suspicious” person seen trying to enter a semi-truck parked in a truck lot was arrested after he punched a police officer and tried to take off in a patrol car, prosecutors said. Arkadiusz Dynowski, 27, showed in court Wednesday on a felony charge of aggravated battery to a police officer. The prosecutor said the officer suffered multiple contusions on his face.

According to the charges, Bridgeview police responded to a report of a suspicious person in the PepsiCo lot at 7700 W. 71st St. around 3:18 p.m. Aug. 8. When the first officer arrived, the prosecutor said Dynowski was spotted running in the street toward the officer’s squad car. The officer exited his car and ordered Dynowski to stop. Dynowski allegedly punched the police officer in the face several times.

The officer grabbed Dynowski’s leg when he tried to get into the patrol car’s driver’s seat, the prosecutor said. With the assistance of the PepsiCo security guard, who originally called police, he and several other police officers were able to take Dynowski down, according to the charges.

“What does he do for a living?” Cook County Judge Peter Felice asked.

“I asked and he is not responding,” the assistant public defender said.

“Is he being unresponsive or uncooperative or a little bit of both,” Judge Felice said.

Bail was set at $30,000. Dynowski is due back in court Aug. 24 in Bridgeview.

“This man’s actions are a danger to the community and to the police officers trying to protect us,” the judge said.
