Cops Find Pills in Motel Guest's Room After Wifi Complaint: Prosecutor

Prescription bottle did not have guest's name on it, Bridgeview cops said.

A guest who who became upset about the the wifi service in his motel room was arrested after police found drugs in his room, prosecutors said.

Jeffrey Bunting, 49, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a change of possession of a controlled substance.

According to the charges, Bridgeview police responded to a disturbance on Nov. 13 at the Bridgeview Inn, 10300 S. Harlem Ave. Management told police that a guest identified as Bunting had called the front desk earlier to complain about the wifi service in his room.

The prosecutor said that Bunting allowed police to enter his room where officers noticed a prescription bottle with another person’s name on it containing four Xanax. Police said one of the pills was wrapped in aluminum foil.

“The police had no permission to look at the prescription bottle,” the assistant public defender told the judge.

Judge Felice released Bunting on a $25,000 I-bond and random drug testing.

“You got the keys to the jail,” Felice said.

Bunting is due back in court Dec. 5 in Bridgeview.
