Couple Startled To Find Man Asleep in Their Garage: Police

Man told police he drank a half gallon of vodka and was looking for a place to sleep, reports said.

An Oak Lawn man looking for a place to sleep was charged with criminal trespassing when a couple confronted him in their condominium building's garage, reports said.

Police were called to the 10200 block of South Central Avenue around 10:30 p.m. March 25, for a report of a possible trespasser in the building’s garage.

According to the report, wife said she came down to her car to retrieve a pack of cigarettes, when she discovered a man, later identified as John J. Klevinskas, 42, in the garage.

The women said she was “startled” when she saw Klevinskas. She went to tell her husband, who called 911, police said.

Officers found Klevinskas in the garage, who they said appeared highly intoxicated. Klevinskas allegedly told police he had drank half a gallon of vodka and was looking for a place to sleep.

Police said Kleviskas told them he waited for someone to enter the building and followed behind, then went into the garage to take a snooze.

Klevinskas was charged with criminal trespassing. Officers also found a one-hitter box and two cannabis pipes, reports said.

He was taken to the Oak Lawn police station where he was also charged with possession of drug equipment, Klevinskas, whose last known address is the 10400 block of South Mayfield Avenue, was awaiting a bond hearing.
