‘Crazy, Great’ Richards Varsity Boys Track Team Wins SCC Championship
Richards High School dominates South Suburban Conference Red championship, with many Bulldogs posting personal records in track and field.

OAK LAWN, IL — The Richards High School varsity boys track team took the South Suburban Conference Red Division championship Thursday at Oak Lawn Community High School, with many Bulldogs besting their own personal records. The Richards team is coached by Jeff Kopf.
Among the exciting highlights, senior Mustafa Washington took first place in the discus (138 feet, 7 inches) and second in shot put.
Finishing third in the 4X800 meter race, Richards frosh Aimen Bawadi and Eric Villalobos, junior Josh Smith and senior Jack Weiland.

Junior Owen Forberg and senior Louie Leahy scored 50 points between them, going 1-2 in the 3200 and 1600 meter races.
Junior Owen Forberg and senior Jack Weiland also finished first and third in the 800 meter race.

Frosh Aimen Bawadi ran a big personal best of 54.09 to finish second in the 400 meter race.
Richards senior Christon Jackson finished second in the 110 hurdles with a big person record best of 15.29. Jackson also played a big role in the 4X100 and the 4X200 meter races.
Frosh Rashid Clarke and sophomore Raymion Anderson played a huge part in the 4X100, 4X200 and 4X400.
Senior Babatunda Ogunleye took second in the 100-meter and led a third place finish in the 4X100 and second in the 4X200 meter races.
Next up is the IHSA Class 3A TRB Sectional is Wednesday May 18 at Berwyn-Cicero (Morton).
