Culver's Coming to Oak Lawn

Oak Lawn will be franchisee Guy Hollis's sixth Culver's restaurant in the Chicago area.

Another fast casual dining restaurant is coming to Oak Lawn.

Guy Hollis, who owns five Culver’s franchises in the Chicago area, plans to open a restaurant in Oak Lawn in September.

Hollis plans to open at the site of the former Original Papa Joe’s Italian Restaurant, which pulled up stakes at 10745 S. Cicero Ave. last year to relocate in Chicago Ridge.

Famous for its ButterBurgers and fresh frozen custard, Culver’s offers chicken sandwiches and tenders, fish dinners, homestyle pot roast, soups and salads. The Prairie du Sac, WI-based restaurant chain uses green and sustainability strategies in crafting its menu, including fish from certified-sustainable fisheries, antibiotic-free chicken, and Midwest-raised beef.

A 26-year career executive at Dean Foods, Hollis’s five Culver’s franchises in Bridgeview, Berwyn, Lyons, Franklin Park and Evergreen Park have a combined gross sales of over $10 million, Crain’s Chicago Business said in 2013.

Hollis plans to demolish the existing building on Cicero Avenue and start fresh with a new 85-seat Culver’s restaurant.

An announcement will be made today (Tuesday) at Mayor Sandra Bury’s state-of-the-village address before the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce.
