More than 240 volunteers came together on Saturday, November 2nd, and made a difference for hungry children and their families in our community.
Feed6 is a respected charity reaching out to the hungry and homeless. They are now partnering to package millions of nutritious meals for hungry children and their families in collaboration with Outreach.
On Saturday, November 2nd, Oak Lawn Hometown Middle School hosted a day of community service. Over 240 volunteers came together to transform the OLHMS gymnasium into a meal packaging production center.
Over 16,000 meals were packaged and distributed to food banks in our own community along with a substantial donation totaling $4,148.00. Mrs. Heather McCarthy, 7th grade teacher and leader of the event, said, "I am so proud of my school and community."
Everyone should be proud of what was accomplished on Saturday. All those that participated, no matter how small, can walk away from this event knowing they came to the aid of those in our community that need our help.
