Dad Shoots 19-Year-Old Son In Domestic Altercation: Oak Lawn Police

The 19-year-old man remains hospitalized in stable condition after undergoing surgery for an abdomen wound, police said.

OAK LAWN, IL — A father is accused of shooting his son during a domestic altercation early Friday morning. Mark Pillette, 57, is charged with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm.

Around 2:30 a.m., police responded to a reported shooting in the 9500 block of South Kenneth Avenue. When officers arrived, they found the 19-year-old son suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

The young man was taken to Advocate Aurora Christ Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery. He remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Pillette was taken into custody on the scene. The father was brought to the Oak Lawn Police Department, where detectives determined the shooting was the result of an altercation between father and son, police said.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office approved felony charges. Bail for Pillette was set at $100,000 Sunday afternoon in a bond hearing at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building.
