Suspect in Viverito Murder in Custody; Death Ruled a Homicide
The 55-year-old Oak Lawn woman was found with multiple stab wounds in her basement. A suspect is in custody in Wisconsin.

OAK LAWN, IL - The death of Marianne Viverito, a staff member for Congressman Dan Lipinski, has been ruled a homicide.
Viverito, 55, died Tuesday morning of "multiple stab and incised wounds," according to an autopsy performed by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. The Medical Examiner's Office released the autopsy findings Wednesday afternoon.
A suspect in her death is in custody in Wisconsin, Oak Lawn police confirmed on Wednesday. A warrant has been issued for murder by the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. The person's name is being withheld pending charges on return to Illinois.

Police said on Tuesday that a woman, later identified as Viverito, was found deceased in her basement in the 5100 block of 105th Place Tuesday morning around 3:15 a.m. She may have been the target of a domestic altercation. Viverito is the daughter of former State Sen. Louis Viverito.
The manner of death was listed as "sharp force trauma."

Lipinski mourned the loss of Viverito in a statement on Tuesday.
“Marianne was a beloved and trusted member of my staff, and has been a part of my team during much of my tenure in Congress," he wrote, in part. "She has helped countless of my constituents solve challenges they’ve faced with the federal government with a smile, good nature, and humor."
When the warrant for the suspect is served in Wisconsin, the person will be returned to Illinois.
