Learn from the nation's best; for students who just completed grades 5 to 8!

Richards High School will sponsor a digital media camp for students who just completed grades 5 to 8 from July 29 to August 1.
Learn the basics of filmmaking from teacher Aaron Vermedal and his Bulldog Dispatch crew, winners of the prestigious Excellence in Broadcast Journalism Award at the Student Television Network nationals this year!

Day 1: Introduction to Filmmaking
On the first day, students will dive into the fundamentals of filmmaking, learning about the various roles in a film crew, the basics of storytelling, and the importance of pre-production planning. Through interactive workshops and discussions, they will gain a solid understanding of the essential elements that go into making a successful film.
Day 2: Cinematography and Camera Techniques
Day two focuses on the art of cinematography and camera techniques. Students will learn how to frame shots effectively, understand the principles of composition, and explore different camera movements and angles. Through hands-on activities and practical exercises, they will hone their skills in capturing visually compelling footage.

Day 3: Editing and Post-Production
The third day is dedicated to editing and post-production. Participants will discover the power of editing in shaping a story, as they learn to use editing software to assemble footage, add transitions, sound effects, and music. They will also explore color grading and visual effects, gaining the tools to enhance the overall look and feel of their films.
Day 4: Production and Screening
On the final day, students will put their newfound knowledge and skills to the test as they work in teams to produce their own short films. Guided by experienced instructors, they will collaborate to plan, shoot, and edit their projects, applying everything they've learned throughout the camp. The day culminates in a screening event, where participants proudly showcase their creations to their peers and families.
Throughout the camp, participants will not only develop technical proficiency in video production but also cultivate creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. By the end of the four days, they will have gained valuable insights into the exciting world of filmmaking and be equipped with the tools to continue their cinematic journey with confidence.
