Diners Duck and Cover When BBs Shatter Windows at Cooper's Hawk: POLICE
Diners' meal interrupted when BB pellets shatter windows, reports said.
OAK LAWN, IL -- Diners took cover on the floor when their meal was interrupted by BB pellets hitting the windows where they were sitting at Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant, reports said.
Oak Lawn police responded to multiple shots-fired calls at the restaurant around 10 p.m. June 19. Police found the windows facing 111th Street were shattered, but no one was hurt.
Diners sitting next to the windows told police they were eating when they heard a loud noise and saw two windows shattered. They got on the floor to take cover believing the building was being shot at. Police said the diners did not see anyone walking or any vehicles drive by prior to the damage.
An officer found a BB in the landscaping outside the damaged windows. The restaurant’s manager told police he was alerted to the damaged windows by various guests, but couldn’t provide any further information.
According to the police, the manager estimated repairs to the windows to be “in the thousands.”
