District 123 to Host ‘Kick-Off to Kindergarten’ Event at Oak Lawn Public Library on April 30

Join District 123 at the Oak Lawn Public Library for a special event dedicated to families with incoming kindergarten students.

Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 is inviting families from the Oak Lawn and Hometown communities to a "Kickoff to Kindergarten" event on Thursday, April 30, from 5:30–7 PM at the Oak Lawn Public Library. This event is designed for families with children entering Kindergarten for the 2026–27 school year.

Children must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2026 to be eligible for Kindergarten for next school year.

Intended for students not currently enrolled in a pre-school program, the evening will feature a variety of interactive hands-on learning experiences to help families understand the academic expectations and routines of Kindergarten. Attendees will receive practical strategies to support learning at home and connect with district staff in a welcoming environment. The goal of the event is to help children enter Kindergarten with familiarity, foundational skills, and excitement for learning, while families feel informed, confident, and connected. Raffle prizes will be drawn for attendees.
