Elderly Siblings' Deaths In Oak Lawn Ruled Murder-Suicide: Cook County Medical Examiner

Both siblings died from gunshot wounds to the head in a murder-suicide, the Cook County Medical Examiner said.

OAK LAWN, IL — Two elderly siblings were discovered dead of apparent gunshot wounds Thursday in their Oak Lawn home, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner has ruled their deaths a murder-suicide. Both died of gunshot wounds to the head.

The siblings were found shortly after noon Thursday in their home in the 10000 South block of Maple Avenue when they failed to answer the door for a healthcare worker.

Oak Lawn police officers were dispatched to the home to conduct a well-being check when the siblings were found. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Autopsies were performed Friday by the medical center. Their identities and gender have not been released.
