Ex-Friend Leaves Harassing Note on Neighbor's Pumpkin: Cops

Police said note was stuck into pumpkin with a knife.

Oak Lawn police found a note stuck into a jack ‘o lantern with a knife when responding to harassment call, reports said.

Officers went to the 9300 block of 54th Avenue around 7:21 a.m. Oct. 20 after a resident alleged that a former friend and neighbor had tampered with his pumpkin.

The resident told police that he had video surveillance of his neighbor walking up the front stairs of his house and sticking a note on his pumpkin with a knife, police said.

Officers looked at the note which said, “what in the world makes you think I would ever help you?” It was signed by his neighbor, police said.

The resident said he has had ongoing issues ever since he told his neighbor, who was also a childhood acquaintance, that he did not wish to be friends.

Police went to the neighbor’s house, who alleged admitted that he stuck a note his former pal’s pumpkin with a knife.

The neighbor said he was upset that the man had spurned his friendship. Officers warned him to stay away from the resident and his house, and to also refrain from disturbing other people’s property.
