Farewell concert for Richards band director

Charles Martin will lead the Richards High School band in his final concert this Sunday, May 19 at 3 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

Richards is located at 10601 S. Central Avenue in Oak Lawn. Please park in the lot along 107th Street.

Admission is free to this event. Afterward, Richards will host a reception to honor him for his 24 years of leadership and instructional excellence.

This concert includes an opportunity for alumni to participate. Graduates can contact Mr. Martin at hlrbands@att.net for details.

This event also features two guest artists. Richards art teacher Michelle Richardella will paint her impressions of the musical composition 'Sleep' composed by Eric Whiteacre as the band plays.

And Richards graduate Nick Martin will perform a saxophone solo during the playing of Persuasion, a composition by Sammy Nestico.

Martin, an Oak Lawn resident, has directed the Richards band program for 24 years.
