Father of Eight Accused of Taking Coins, Air Freshener, Work Jacket From Truck
Chicago man was nabbed strolling down street wearing hubby's work jacket, prosecutor said.
OAK LAWN, IL -- A Chicago man strolling through Oak Lawn is accused of taking items out of a commercial truck parked in a resident’s driveway, prosecutors said. Andres Nevarez, 40, appeared before Cook County Judge Donald Havis on a charge of burglary. Nevarez has two other pending burglary cases, according to court records.
The resident heard a door slam around 4:43 a.m. Aug. 27, in the 5000 block of Wick Drive. The resident looked out the window saw a man, later identified as Nevarez, standing in the driveway by her husband’s work truck wearing camo pants. According to the criminal complaint, Nevarez was spotted by police walking down the street by police wearing the resident’s husband’s work jacket. Police said he was also in possession of other items reported missing from the truck, including air freshener, coins and a screwdriver.
Officers said the jacket fit tightely on Nevarez. The assistant public defender told the judge that Nevarez is the father of eight children and just started a new job.

Judge Havis set bail at $70,000 for the new charge. The judge also told Nevarez to stay away from the residents while the case was pending. Nevarez is due back in court Sept. 12 in Bridgeview.
