Feds Notified After 2 Tried to Access Secure Area at Oak Lawn Village Hall

Oak Lawn, IL -- Oak Lawn police investigated two suspicious people found lurking around the Village of Oak Lawn’s municipal center early Monday evening.

According to a statement by Oak Lawn Police Chief Michael Murray, police were alerted around 7 p.m. July 11 of two suspicious people on the village hall premises.

One of the people was spotted on video surveillance attempting to gain access to a secure area of the municipal center.

Police detained and interviewed the individual, who learned there was a second person waiting outside in a vehicle in the parking lot.

The municipal center houses the police department, jail and 911 emergency communications center.

Both individuals were identified and interviewed. No arrests were made and there are no charges pending.

Murray said the police department notified its "state and federal law enforcement partners."

The village is not releasing any additional information at this time.
