Firefighter Buys Firehouse Subs Franchise In Oak Lawn

OAK LAWN, IL — First-time franchise owners Bret Jefferies, a Stone Park firefighter, and his wife, Michelle, have purchased Firehouse Subs at 11008 S. Cicero Ave. in Oak Lawn. The couple purchased the franchise from the former owner located in the Stony Creek Promenade at 111th Street and Cicero Avenue.

As an active firefighter, Bret has seen firsthand how Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation gives back to local public safety organizations. The Stone Park Fire Department received two eDRAULICs devices, which are battery-operated Jaws of Life tools, from the Firehouse Foundation two years ago.

“I’ve been a firefighter for more than 34 years, and every second counts when you’re trying to save a life,” Bret Jefferies said in a news release. “The tools we received from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation have made a huge difference for the Stone Park community. My wife and I are so excited to be a part of helping other communities around the country with my first restaurant.”

Michelle Jefferies said the couple became interested in the franchise after learning the history behind Firehouse Subs, which was started by two firefighter brothers.

“I’ve watched Bret give back selflessly throughout his career as a firefighter, and when we learned about Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation and the history behind Firehouse Subs, we knew we’d found the perfect business to get involved in,” Michelle Jefferies said. “Over the last few months, we’ve truly enjoyed serving the community hot hearty subs with smiles on our faces and look forward to continuing to do so.”

Firehouse Subs features an array specialty hot and cold subs, as well as salads and sandwich choices under 500 calories. The Oak Lawn location will also offer catering. The sandwich shop is open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
