Firefighters Extinguish Blaze At Oak Lawn Mobile Home Park

Oak Lawn firefighters put out a small fire that broke out underneath mobile home used as an office at the Airway Mobile Home Community.

OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn firefighters extinguished a small fie Wednesday afternoon in a mobile home being used as an office in a mobile home park, fire officials said.

Around 3:19 p.m., a resident called 911 to report smoke pouring out from underneath the office in the Airway Mobile Home Community, 9001 S. Cicero Ave., Oak Lawn.

Firefighters grabbed axes and vented the floor inside the office. The outside skirting of the home was also removed, and the blaze was quickly extinguished, Oak Lawn Fire Chief Zack Riddle told Patch in an email.

Riddle said flames did not penetrate the mobile home office. The blaze was extinguished at 3:37 p.m.

The fire is under investigation and the cause is undetermined at this time.
