First Leo Club in Illinois strong as ever at Richards

Back in 1969, Oak Lawn Lions Club member Len Pearson founded the first Leo Club in Illinois at Richards High School in Oak Lawn.

While many organizations at Richards and other school raise money and volunteer for worthy causes, Leo Club exists purely as a service organization.  It's all they do.

This video features the club's most recent outreach: More than 30 stayed after school to bake treats.  Two days later, the club traveled to the Chicago Ridge Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center to share the baked goods and play games with the residents.

We truly appreciate the good work of faculty sponsor Beth Rockey and her students.  You can find them around Oak Lawn and the south suburbs throughout the school year making our corner of the world a little brighter.
