'Floral Floppy Hat' Bandit Robs Bridgeview Bank: FBI

The FBI is looking for a suspect wearing a floral floppy hat who robbed the US Bank in Bridgeview on Aug. 9.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL -- A man wearing a floppy floral hat is suspected of robbing a Bridgeview bank on Aug. 9, the FBI said. No weapon was displayed and the heist is being described as a non-takeover bank robbery.

According to the FBI-run website BanditTrackerChicago, the man walked into the U.S. Bank branch at 8739 N. Harlem Ave., Bridgeview, around 3 p.m. Tuesday. No weapon was displayed and the bandit is alleged to have gotten away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Witnesses described the purported bandit as a black male, between 6-feet-2-inches and 6-feet-4-inches tall and weighing 250 pounds. He was wearing a white polo shirt and a black floral hat.

Two of the surveillance images posted on BanditTrackerChicago show the man in the described hat and clothing from last Saturday’s robbery. A third picture depicts him in a black shirt and black hat, that appears to be turned inside out. The FBI website did not indicate if the man is a suspect in other bank robberies.

Anyone who recognizes the individual or has knowledge of the robbery is asked to call the FBI’s Chicago office at 312-421-6700.
