Former Oak Lawn Resident Janet “Sissy” LiVigni Dies At Age 73
Janet "Sissy" H. (Kurtzweil) LiVigni is a proud graduate of Oak Lawn Community High School. A celebration of life is planned for Aug. 18.

OAK LAWN, IL -- Janet “Sissy” "H. LiVigni, nee Kurtzweil passed away on June 10 at her residence in Rib Lake, Wisconsin. She was 73. Janet was born in Blue Island, Illinois on November 11, 1944 to Janet (Kliefoth) and Forest Kurtzweil. She is a proud graduate of Oak Lawn Community High School.
After graduating from OLCHS, Janet worked as a purchasing agent in the steel industry. She was a hard worker and a strong woman with a great sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by all. Janet leaves her husband Steven LiVigni; son Joseph (Kelly) LiVigni; and her grandchildren Rebecca, Jessica and Joseph “Fitzy”; sister Margaret “Peggy” Machnikowski, brother Thomas Kurtzweil, many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Forest and Quentin “Bunny” Kurtzweil; sister-in-law, Merilyn Kurtzweil; and brother-in-law, Julius Machnikowski.
A celebration of life is planned for Aug. 18 at Lake Katherine’s E.G. Clubhouse, 7402 Lake Katherine Drive, Palos Heights, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with prayers at 10:30 a.m. This August, Jan and Steve would have celebrated their 50th anniversary. In lieu of monetary gifts or flowers, the family of Janet encourages friends and family to honor her legacy with a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hope Hospice of Medford WI.
