Free Document Shredding Offered Saturday At OLHMS

The Village of Oak Lawn is offering residents free document shredding Saturday, Sept. 28, at Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School.

OAK LAWN, IL — Start gathering your sensitive documents. The Village of Oak Lawn is offering free document shredding Saturday, Sept. 28. Oak Lawn residents can drop off documents for shredding from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School, 5345 W. 99th Street.

Oak Lawn residents can bring their unwanted papers to be shredded and later recycled by Shark Shredding & Document Management. Document shredding is one of the most effective tools in preventing identity theft. Shredding documents also has positive environmental impacts; once shredded, all paper is recycled, thereby reducing the amount of waste in landfills.

There is a 2-box limit per vehicle, so it’s best to get there early, including:

  • Use boxes or paper bags (no plastic bags)
  • Place your boxes in the trunk or back seat of your vehicle for removal
  • A volunteer will take your items
  • Boxes will be returned to your vehicle
