Halloween 'Trunk or Treat' Events Near Oak Lawn
Want a safe alternative for trick-or-treating? Several churches and organizations are hosting "trunk-or-treat" events Oct. 30 and Oct. 31.

OAK LAWN, IL — As a safe alternative to trick-or-treating, churches and organizations are decking their trunks for Halloween and inviting kids to “trunk and treat.” People gather and park their cars in the parking lot and open their trunks filled with candy and other treats for the children. Such events provide a safe family environment for trick-or-treaters and the children of the community.
Here are some trunk-or-treat events in the Oak Lawn area scheduled for Halloween weekend:
Saturday, Oct. 30

Hometown VFW 9773 “Boo Bash And Trunk or Treat,” 1 to 3 p.m., 9092 Main St., Hometown — Stop by at Boo Bash for games, prizes and treats. The Hometown Fire Department will be doing safety demonstrations and police will be offering fingerprinting for children.
Calvary Church of Oak Lawn Trunk or Treat, 1 to 3 p.m., 10056 S. Central Ave. — Costumed church members will be passing out candy from decorated trunks.

Oak Lawn United Reformed Church Trunk or Treat, 4 to 7 p.m., 9350 S. 54th Ave. (94th Street and 54th Avenue)
Sunday, Oct. 31
Pilgrim Congregational Church Trunk or Treat, 12:30 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 31, 460 Lake St., Oak Lawn — Peruse the trunks. Hot dogs, chips and drink will be available for $1.
