Worth, IL, June 10, 2016 -- A Worth man ruined a police department printer while in custody for a domestic battery charge, prosecutors said Thursday in court.
Joseph Espinoza, 39, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a charge of criminal damage to government supported property.
Espinoza was in police custody on May 21, for allegedly punching and placing his hands around his girlfriend’s neck.
The prosecutor said that while shackled and handcuffed, Espinoza reached over to the mugshot printer and grabbed the cables, pulling it off a cabinet on to the floor.
The printer, valued around $500, was rendered inoperable, police said.
Bail was set at $5,000.
Espinoza is due back in court June 29 in Bridgeview.
