'Headbutter' Knocks Out Window in Cop Car: Prosecutor

The prosecutor said the Bridgeview man knocked out the window separating the front and back seats inside a police vehicle.

BRIDGEVIEW, IL -- A Bridgeview man is accused of damaging a police squad car with his head after being arrested for domestic battery, prosecutors said.

Corey Hensley, 18, appeared before Judge Donald Havis on a felony charge of criminal damage to government supported property. Hensley was in another courtroom earlier Friday on misdemeanor charges of domestic battery.

The prosecutor said that Bridgeview police responded to a domestic battery around 5:20 a.m. Feb. 24. After arriving in the 8800 block of South Harlem Avenue, police took Hensley into custody.

Hensley was handcuffed and placed inside the squad car. The prosecutor said Hensley headbutted the window separating the back and front seats inside the police vehicle, causing the window to pop out.

In addition to the window, police said that Hensley also damaged the frame holding the window. The total damages are estimated at $500.

Hensley has a 2016 case for resisting arrest to which he was sentenced to 25 days in Cook County Jail, the prosecutor said.

“He’s picked up quite a few cases in a short period of time,” Judge Havis said before setting bail at $5,000.

Hensley’s next court date is March 15.
