Homeless Man Broke Windows So He Could Go Back to Jail: Cops
Man said he was running out of money for motels and wanted to get arrested, cops say.

A homeless man is charged with criminal damage to property after he purposely threw bricks at a store window so he’d be arrested and sent back to jail, prosecutors said.
Samuel Fikejs, 23, appeared for a bond hearing on Thursday wearing a “Respect none, fear none,” t-shirt.

Prosecutors said Fikejs heaved two bricks through the front window of Walgreens, 5555 W. 79th St., Burbank.
Fikejs allegedly provided a written statement that he waited for customers to clear the area and then threw the bricks, hoping to be caught. Prosecutors said he told police that he’s homeless and was running out of money for motels.

He wanted to get arrested to so he could go back to jail and get home, according to the charges. Illinois Department of Corrections records indicate that Fikejs is out on parole for a previous conviction of knowingly damaging property.
Bail was set at $100,000. Fikejs is due back in court on August 17.
