Horses Killed Running Into Traffic on 95th Street

The horses had apparently thrown off their riders, then ran into traffic on 95th Street in Hickory Hills, the Cook County Sheriff said.

HICKORY HILLS, IL -- A pair of horses were killed after they ran into traffic, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office said. The accident happened Friday afternoon in Hickory Hills. The driver of the vehicle that struck the horses was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to CBS Chicago..

The horses had apparently thrown off their riders on a forest preserve trail near 95th Street and Kean Avenue. The horses ran onto 95th Street where they were hit by a vehicle. One of the horses died instantly; the second horse was put down by a Hickory Hills police officer.
