It's Time to Prioritize Working Families
Working families have been left behind for too long.
For too long, working families have been getting the short end of the stick. They’ve been working harder and getting less in return. This cycle needs to end. It’s the result of decades of policy choices that benefit the wealthy and have led to increasing income inequality.
Who makes those policy choices? Too often it’s politicians more focused on pleasing wealthy donors than bettering the lives of those they were elected to serve. This is just plain wrong.
Our representatives should be focusing on advocating for the working families who make up the majority of this country, and the Third District. In Congress, I will focus on lowering taxes for working people, not the 1%. When working families are treated fairly, they contribute back into the economy, which helps everyone. I will push for livable wages and protections for workers feeling trapped by companies as well as paid leave.

Another crucial way to advocate for working families is reducing the cost of childcare. Often under the political radar, childcare is a necessary cost for a lot of families, and just too dang expensive. In 23 states, childcare is more expensive than rent! Not only is it a necessity for families with two working parents, but more and more studies have shown just how important early childhood education to a child’s development.
Affordable childcare is one key to lifting up working families and leveling the playing field for all of our children. It’s inevitable that we all will face various challenges throughout our lives, but creating a strong launchpad for our children will be a good start. When there are opportunities for our government to take action to help everyday Americans, it should act. As a congresswoman, I will bring real results to decrease the cost of childcare and ease the burden on working families.
