Prosecutor said boyfriend chased man in his truck striking him in the legs and damaging the public parkway.

BURBANK, IL -- A Chicago man was arrested after he purposely struck another man with his vehicle for talking to his girlfriend, prosecutors said in court.
Arthur Williams, 26, of Chicago, appeared before Cook County Judge Donald Havis on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and criminal damage to property.
Burbank police responded to the 8300 block of South Mulligan Avenue around 10:15 p.m. Sept. 5 for a report of a disturbance. The prosecutor said that Williams and the other man had an argument over the phone, during which Williams threatened to kill him for talking to his girlfriend.

Williams went over to the other man’s house. The man exited his home when he saw Williams arrive. According to the charges, Williams drove his 2016 black Grand Cherokee toward the man, forcing the man to jump out of the way.
The prosecutor said that Williams tried to run the man down two more times. On the fourth try, Williams allegedly drove across the parkway and struck the man in the leg. Williams hit a tree in the parkway and a fence, damaging his vehicle.

When police arrived they learned from other witnesses that Williams had fled the scene. Officers were able to follow a debris trail to the 8300 block of South Keating in Chicago, where they took Williams into custody.
The 28-year-old Burbank man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries to his legs, Burbank police said.
The City of Burbank estimated damages to the public parkway and tree to be around $673.
The assistant public defender told the judge that Williams would comply with all conditions of bond and asked for a reasonable bail.
Williams is currently on supervised release for a federal counterfeiting conviction, the prosecutor said.
Bail was set at $75,000. Williams is to surrender his FOID card and any weapons to Burbank police if he bonds out. He’s also supposed to stay away from the other man while the case is pending.
Williams’ next court date is Oct. 4 in Bridgeview.
