Joon Lee's Board Break-A-Thon Benefits Kids With Cancer

Students demonstrate their board breaking skills this Saturday to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A whole lot of boards will be broken this Saturday at Joon Lee’s Tae Kwon Do in Oak Lawn.

Students from the school are staging a board break-a-thon for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital that treats children catastrophic diseases through research and advanced medical treatment.

Children from the school have been rounding up sponsors among their families, friends and neighbors. The more they raise, the more boards they break.

Master Michael Pendleton, an instructor at the school, estimates that hundreds of boards will be broken starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, at Joon Lee’s Tae Kwon Do, 5301 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn.

Community members are invited to poke their heads in at the school to watch the board breaking demonstration. Pendleton expects that seating will be limited, but you are invited to peek through the windows.
