'Kid Bandit' Charged in Bank Stickup: Cops

CHICAGO, IL -- A 16-year-old boy has been charged with robbing a Garfield Ridge bank at gunpoint on Tuesday afternoon.
The FBI said the boy walked into the TCF Bank branch at 6141 S. Archer Ave. around 4:12 p.m. He displayed a handgun and demanded money before fleeing on foot.

Witnesses at the bank had described the suspect as a young white male with a slim build, wearing a black hooded jacket, dark jeans, and a Steelers knit cap. At the time, the FBI said they believed the suspect to be under the age of 20.
FBI officials said the boy was arrested several hours later around 8:30 p.m. The FBI typically investigates bank robberies which under federal jurisdiction, however, the agency does not prosecute minors. The boy was turned over to Chicago police.

He has since been charged and is due to appear in Cook County Juvenile Court at 1100 S. Hamilton Ave, Chicago, on Thursday, police said.
Police haven’t released the boy’s name, but bank surveillance images of the young suspect appeared on the FBI-run website BanditTrackerChicago.
