Knights on the Rise: A Fall to Remember

CCHS Teams Shine in Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country, and Football

The CCHS Knights are having an outstanding fall sports season, excelling in soccer, volleyball, cross country, and football. Each team has shown impressive skill and determination, making a strong mark in their respective competitions. As they head into important matches, the excitement among students and fans is at an all-time high.

The cross country teams have been particularly successful, with the girls qualifying for the state championships for four years in a row. They will compete in the IHSA Sectionals in Lisle on November 2, where they aim to defend their title as sectional champions. The boys' team has also been training hard and is eager to showcase their talents. Both teams exemplify teamwork and dedication, earning them respect in the sport.

In football, the Knights are making their playoff return, hosting their opening round game against Illini West this Saturday at 5 PM—their first home playoff game since 2008. With an impressive 8-1 record and a perfect 5-0 at home this season, the team is eager to build on their success and make a deep playoff run. The energy and support from fans are sure to create an unforgettable atmosphere for this exciting matchup.

Under the leadership of head coach Danny Mack and assistant coach Luke Vant Land, the boys' soccer team, fresh off their regional championship victory, faced an exhilarating challenge in the Sectional Semi-Finals. Trailing 2-0 with just 16 minutes remaining, they orchestrated an impressive comeback, winning the match 3-2 and securing their place in the sectional finals for only the second time in the school’s history.

In the Sectional Finals, the Knights battled fiercely against Manteno, ending regulation in a thrilling 0-0 stalemate. The stands were packed with enthusiastic supporters, rallying behind their team through the intensity of double overtime. Unfortunately, the game was decided by penalty kicks, where the Knights put up a valiant fight but ultimately came up short. Despite the defeat, the players showed great spirit and determination, leaving everything on the field.

Meanwhile, the volleyball team is on a roll, having recently won their seventh straight regional championship on October 31, and they are set to compete in the sectionals on November 5 at 7 PM in Manteno.

As the fall season comes to a close, the CCHS Knights continue to inspire their community with their achievements and spirit.
