As the fall sports season continues to heat up, the CCHS Knights are putting on a spectacular display of athleticism and determination across multiple disciplines—football, cross country, and volleyball—with each team making history and setting new records. From hard-fought victories to personal bests, the Knights are proving that hard work, grit, and team spirit are a recipe for success.
Football: Knights Battle Back for a Historic Victory
The CCHS Knights football team is making history this season, and their 2nd round playoff victory against Tri Valley was a perfect example of their resilience and determination. Down 14-9 at halftime, the Knights found themselves in a tough spot, but they never lost their resolve.
After a strong second half, the Knights came roaring back to secure a 24-14 win, advancing to the IHSA 2A Quarterfinals for the second time in school history. It was a thrilling game, with the Knights remaining steady and focused, handling every challenge that came their way.

Game Recap:
Halftime: The Knights were trailing 14-9 but had plenty of fight left in them.
Third Quarter: With approximately 3 minutes left in the third quarter, the Knights managed to pull ahead 17-14, setting the stage for a dramatic final quarter.
Fourth Quarter: The Knights took a 24-14 lead after a game-changing interception by the defense with under five minutes remaining, securing the victory.

This thrilling comeback not only secured the win but also ensured that CCHS will host a Quarterfinals game for the first time in school history. The Knights are set to face Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin on Saturday, November 16, at 5:00 PM at CCHS Stadium. Fans are encouraged to pack the stands and support the team as they aim for a spot in the semifinals.
The victory is a testament to the team’s persistence and focus, setting the stage for an electric Quarterfinals showdown.
Cross Country: Personal Bests and Strong Showings
The CCHS Knights cross country teams capped off an incredible season, with both the girls' and boys' teams giving it their all in their respective events.
Girls’ Team:
Junior Kihra Moes was one of the standout performers for the girls’ team, finishing in 73rd place overall with a time of 18:58. Moes’ performance was solid, placing her among the top competitors in a competitive field.
Sophomore Abby Mullin, on the other hand, had an extraordinary day, finishing in 93rd place with a personal best time of 19:17. Mullin’s dedication and improvement throughout the season were on full display as she crossed the finish line with a new personal record.
Boys’ Team:
Sophomore Jed Batayola also made waves, securing a 157th place finish with a personal best time of 16:40.

Volleyball: Knights Started Out Strong in Super-Sectionals
The Knights volleyball team fought valiantly in a tough three-game match against El Paso-Gridley, but ultimately fell short in a hard-fought battle.
The first game saw an intense back-and-forth between both teams, with the Knights showing their resilience and determination. After battling through multiple lead changes, they edged out a 27-25 victory, taking the early lead in the match.
However, the momentum shifted in the second game, El Paso-Gridley came out with strong play. The Knights battled hard to stay in the match, but ultimately fell short, with El Paso-Gridley taking the set 25-17. Despite the setback, the Knights stayed focused and maintained their drive to bounce back in the third game.
In the third game, the Knights struggled to regain their rhythm, as El Paso-Gridley built on their earlier momentum and played with heightened intensity. The Knights put up a strong fight with several determined attacks, but ultimately fell 25-11 in the third set. Although they lost the match 2-1, the Knights displayed incredible heart and fierceness in every moment of the match.
Congratulations to the Knights for being crowned Regional Champs for the 7th straight year and Sectional Champs for the 5th consecutive year. Under the leadership of Coach Troy Grevengoed, the Knights volleyball team delivered an outstanding season. Well done, Knights!
