Lisle Man Dies While In Oak Lawn Police Custody, Illinois State Police Conduct Independent Probe
The 43-year-old man reportedly ingested an unknown substance when he became unresponsive and was taken to the hospital, ISP said.
OAK LAWN, IL—Oak Lawn police have requested the Illinois State Police Public Integrity Task Force to investigate the death of a Lilse man while in police custody earlier this week.
Johnall J, Walker, 43, was taken into custody July 20 on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, Illinois State Police said. Cook County Medical Examiner records noted that Walker was arrested at 95th Street and Ridgeland Avenue.
While en route to the Oak Lawn police station, Walker is said to have ingested an unknown substance. When he became unresponsive, police took him to Advocate Christ Medical Center. Walker died a few days later on July 22, when he was pronounced deceased at 8:37 p.m.

The cause and manner of death are pending toxicology tests, according to medical examiner records.
Illinois State Police will be conducting an independent probe. No further information is available. Oak Lawn police referred all questions regarding the independent investigation to state police.
