Loaded Glock Found Between Driver’s Feet: Prosecutor

Chicago man told Oak Lawn cops he bought the gun off two kids who stole it out of a car, prosecutor said.

OAK LAWN, IL -- A 25-year-old barber was arrested after a stolen gun was found in his car during a traffic stop, prosecutors said. Chicago-resident Kenneth Guy, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a Class X felony charge of armed violence. He was also charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance including intent, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Hearing reports of drug sales taking place in an Oak Lawn home, police were patrolling the area around 3:25 p.m. Nov. 28. According to police, a car stopped for about 20 seconds in front of a house before driving on. Police noticed that the driver, later identified as Guy, was not wearing a seatbelt as he drove past the officers, the prosecutor said.

Officers followed the vehicle before pulling the driver over in the 5000 block of West 95th Street. As officers approached the vehicle, they claimed to have detected an odor of marijuana wafting from the car. The prosecutor said police found a loaded Glock between Guy’s feet. A search of the car also turned up a large plastic bag filled with 22 smaller bags of crack, along with $750 cash, according to the charges.
