Local 150 Opens Application Period For Union Apprenticeships
Find out to what's required to apply for a Local 150 Operating Engineer union apprenticeship. Application period opens in November.

The Apprenticeship Office for Local 150 Operating Engineers is opening applications in November for the trades of heavy equipment operator, heavy equipment repair technician, geothermal well driller and construction material inspector. An application can be requested in person at one of Local 150’s nine offices during the scheduled dates and times,
A $25 application fee per program will be required when requesting applications, payable to the Local 150 Apprenticeship Fund; only money orders will be accepted. All applicants must present a valid driver’s license. The address on the applicant’s driver’s license MUST MATCH the address on the application. Minimum qualifications for the program are as follows:
- At least 18 years of age
- Must have graduated high school or obtained a GED. The applicant will provide a high school transcript for evaluation purposes.
- Be a resident of the geographic jurisdiction of Local 150.
- A valid driver’s license and the maintenance of such are required at the time of selection.
- A statement from a licensed physician stating physical ability to perform the work of the trades will be required 30 days after being indentured into the program.
- Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
- Required to undergo drug testing.

Completed applications and required documents, including educational/military transcripts, reference letters, birth certificate, proof of previous employment and prior experience questionnaire must be mailed or returned no later than Dec. 31, 2018 to the training center at: 19800 W. Per Local 150: “Selection of apprentices under the programs shall be made from qualified applicants, based on qualifications alone, without regard to race, creed, color, religion, national origin, sex or occupationally irrelevant physical requirements in accordance with objective standards which permit review, after full and fair opportunity for application. The programs shall be run on a completely non-discriminatory basis.”
