Palos Park Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a full-time parks and recreation director to manage and direct the activities and facilities of community based recreation activities and programs. The director will develop and promote a broad spectrum of diverse activities and services for all segments, groups, ages and interest levels of the community which includes large areas of unincorporated areas. Current facilities include one recreation building and the corresponding grounds known as the Village Green, as well as Centennial Park. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader, detail-oriented and self-motivated. Five years parks and supervisory experience required, especially planning and supervising quality community events. A Certified Park and Recreation Professional preferred. The Chicago Park District is accepting applications for summer lifeguards. Lifeguards earn $14.25, plus a sense of pride and accomplishment. To be employed as a summer lifeguard in 2017 applicants must be 16 or older by July 1, 2017 and have a Chicago Park District Lifeguarding Card, valid through 2017 (given after passing the lifeguard swim test). American Red Cross Lifeguarding certificate, or equivalent, including various components and valid through 2017, is also required. NEW APPLICANTS are required to complete the American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard Training Class ($35 fee is required).
